The Kimono Series is a small series of original prints deriving from the discarded materiel from the making of The Revival Series.

Each image from the Kimono Series has been printed as a “one of a kind” directly from my desktop printed as an experimental series.

While it is customary for any kind of digital print (Original or Reproduction) to be printed off of high quality printer, this series is not.

The Tale of The Desktop Print

All my previous prints have been printed off of one of those high quality archival inkjet printer. However this printer model having been discontinued, I have discovered that I could no longer get ink for it. Bummer wouldn't you say!

I can already hear recommendations coming my way about outsourcing the print job! If you have heard the word Giclee, you know what I'm talking about. Here is the thing thought; Althought I don't hand pull my work anymore since it is digital, I still like to print it myself and have direct control over the result. Not to forget the enjoyment I experience when I first see it roll out of the printer.

So! Eager to experience this magical moment with my latest work, I decided to test it out on my desktop printer with my left over high quality paper.

Happily surprised with the quality, I research the longevity of the ink to find out that it might actually exceed the longevity that was provided by my high quality printer. Not that surprising when we consider how technology as progressed over the years. But, be reassured the ink on my two decades year old prints have not faded yet. And I'm pretty convinced that those will outlive me as well.

Thus, I am launching this series as is. And as "one of a kind" with “certificate of authenticity”.

When it comes to the value of a print, I would say first, you have to like what you see. But find more information about the word Giclée as well as Original Print in my blog.
