Completed in 2015, these six cradles came together as a result of an effort to explore past my disappointment. Unsatisfied with a large painting executed a decade earlier, I decided one day to take the canvas off the frame and section it at random in order to reorganize the composition.

What I discovered was that while I had desperately been trying to resolve the painting's composition, the sides of the canvas had become very appealing.

With a fresh eye, and the side pieces, I was able to construct compositions that pleased me.

The pieces of canvas were pasted on hand crafted cradles and the new sides were finished with multiple layers of plaster, sanded down between each coat for a smooth surface.
